ATTENDANCE TO A WEDDING INVITATION AT SAINTS PETER AND PAUL PARISH

Janet Kordoh Pre-novice

We attended a wedding Mass of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Tittor on the 9th of January, 2021. The Mass began at 10am with the Parish Priest, Fr. Gerald as the main celebrant and three concelebrants, Fr. Joseph Sackey from Holy Cross Parish, Fr. Joseph Sukpe from Yendi Diocese and Fr. Francis from Kambonwure Parish in the Tamale Arch Diocese.

Two choirs sang for the celebration of the Mass, that is the Parish main choir [English choir] and Queen of peace [Dagaare choir]. Parishioners came in their numbers in their associational uniforms. The couples were also nicely dressed.

The celebrant in his introduction said that we were all gathered to witness the marriage ceremony of the couples and also help them to achieve a successful marriage in life. The scripture readings were taken from the book of Genesis 1: 1-30, Romans and the gospel of Matthew 19: 1-12.

Fr. Gerald, in his homily, urged the couple to remain faithful to each other and take very good care of the children that God would entrust to their care. He also advised the congregation not to interfere negatively in their married life but help them positively to achieve success in their marriage. After the homily, the couple made their vows and also received rings from each other as a sign of love and faithfulness. A vote of thanks and announcements were given. The Priest gave the final blessing. The Mass came to an end at 12pm. We were all happy to take part in the wedding Mass. We thank Sr. Agatha and all the sisters in the community for giving us the opportunity to witness a wedding Mass for the first time in Tamale.
